OBJECT: Lito y Lola
SUBJECT: Mireia Martí
.
Usual name at the 080 Barcelona Fashion Market, Lito y Lola is Mireia Marti’s jewelry brand. Due to the different styles it represents it’s very difficult to classify: it includes from big pieces which combine silver and natural stones to romantic custom made flower crowns. Mireia created her brand five years ago after an inspiring trip to Menorca with some necklaces that she gave to her close friends. They were an instant success so; up with her partner Dani, she decided to start selling them through a first online shop that they still maintain.
.
“If I look back one year ago the brand had nothing to do with what we’re doing now!” says Mireia when asked about the evolution of her line. From the small pieces with which she started she has developed different lines and collections as a reflection of her own taste, style and creative curiosity. For example, four years ago, as a special order for a friend, she began with the design of flower crowns, a trend seen in London that didn’t come to Barcelona until some years later. She admits that in the beginning the product was difficult to sell while nowadays it’s her bestseller, with four times the production’s volume in comparison to last year’s. This boom, nonetheless, doesn’t prevent her from working every single piece by hand in a 100% artisan and creative process that she does at her studio in Barcelona.

It is a space where she also opened her first shop (C/ Laforja, 122) two years ago and where you can discover the entire brand’s universe. The first floor is dedicated to the flower crowns while the ground floor is where all the jewelry lines are displayed. As Mireia explains, Lito y Lola presents two different kind of product: On the one hand, there are pieces which are finished at the workshops she collaborates with; and on the other, there are more artistic pieces which are built in her own studio. Both lines are hand-made in Spain, an added value to which Mireia doesn’t want to give up despite the rise on the final price it represents.
.
She presents two collections throughout the year as well as a new timeless line in silver with small minimalistic pieces. In the collections the diversity of styles is the main characteristic which results in designs for a wide public. This spring-summer collection is inspired by nature and we can find earthy tones, blues and reds in original designs like a bracelet in gold finish with coral leather or a pair of earrings with small colored pompoms. Special designs that Mireia doesn’t only present in her shop but also in fairs and markets because, as she explains, they allow her to get to the international public and, specifically from the 080 Barcelona Fashion Market, she highlights the specialized public and the great platform it supposes to get known in the fashion crowd.
