One of the goals of the 080 Barcelona Fashion is to bring the world of fashion closer to the citizens. That’s why, in this 24th edition, the event will present, once again, the Open Area, the free access zone open the general public, which presents new features and some already known attractions. For example, it will host the Pop Up Gallery again, the a new showroom and pop ups concept launched last winter edition that combines pop up stores of independent brands and designers with concerts, djs and performances.
Regarding the fashion aspect of the Open Area, the Pop Up Gallery will present in the Gardens of the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site around 20 brands: the jewelry made of carbon fiber by Alchemy // 01; the jewels with soul of Amparo Valencia; the leather handmade bags by Anna Cortina; the streetwear line by Brain&Beast; the creations by the Choice collective; the menswear by  young designer Eñaut; the vintage-inspired and classic-American style tee-shirts by House of Plenty; the timeless bag designs by Kris Mïkita; the colorful fashion by Krizia Robustella; the subversive line by Maison Kinki; the design sneakers by Mikakus; the leather goods line by Musa bajo el árbol; the womenswear by Oscarleon; the original hats by Pardo Hats; the creative jewelry line by Roser Martinez; the jewels and costume jewelry by VSB Jewels; the knit and leather clotges by Xavi Grados; and the hats, jewels and prints on silk by a group of local creatives under the label Empremtes de Catalunya.
Moreover, technology will be another highlight of the Open Area through different initiatives. For the first time, the space will be home to the 080 by Bexfy, a multimedia area that will create a 5 senses experience to the visitors in which the participant brands will be involved. We will also find the 080 Box Experience, an innovative space that will generate interactions between visitors and that is back after the great success of last edition.
Emerging design will also be present in the Open Area thanks to the students of last year of design degree in the following centers: Escola de la Dona; Escola Superior de Disseny LCI Barcelona; Idep Barcelona-Escola Superior d’Imatge i Disseny; ICM Institut Català de la Moda; IED Barcelona Escola Superior de Disseny; Escola Superior de Disseny ESDi, ESDAP Catalunya Campus Llotja; BAU Centre Universitari de Disseny de Barcelona, i l’ILLA Escola d’Art and Disseny de Sabadell. As usual, the Open Area will be home to an exhibition of their best works, giving visibility and support to the youngest talents of Catalan fashion.
Last but not least, another new feature of this summer edition is the display of creative paper dresses thanks to the City Council of Mollerussa. This Catalan town is known for its annual paper dress contest, a result of which is a specialized museum that now is lending some of its most spectacular creations to be shown at the 080’s Open Area.
