The Catalan minister of Business and Knowledge, Àngels Chacón, has opened today the 22nd edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion, which, until Friday 29th of June, will host the shows of 28 designers and brands based in Catalonia. The official opening has been also attended by the general secretary of Business and Knowledge, Marta Felip; the general manager of Trade, Muntsa Vilalta; the manager of the Trade, Crafts and Fashion Consortium (CCAM) and director of 080, Miquel Rodríguez, designers and representatives of the sponsors brands.
Within the official act, Àngels Chacón has explained how the Government of Catalonia is working for the “textile industry and Catalan fashion, to boost it worldwide, retain talent and internationalize the brands”. She has also addressed some words to the consumers and has called to “priorize the consume of products of companies that promote values like circular economy, sustainability and local production and the 080 Barcelona Fashion sums up all these elements that need to be taken into account”. Finally, the minister has pointed out that “the runway is a window to a sector that we want very strong; we want a textile industry that is a reference in the country and the world”.
In the morning, the kick off of the new edition has been in the new 080 Barcelona Fashion Beach runway, located at the Club Patí Vela Barcelona_Red Fish. A dreamy setting, on the Barcelona beach, that has hosted the shows of swimwear brands Como un Pez en el Agua and Guillermina Baeza. Como un Pez en el Agua has presented “Splashdance!”, beach couture proposal that mixes bikinis and swimsuits with skirsts with frills, dresses and jumpsuits. For its part, Guillermina Baeza has presented a collection based both in art and sports. In the afternoon, the action has moved to the runway of the Sant Pau Modernist Enclosure, the official location for the fashion shows until Friday 29th.
Many communication's professionals have shown their interest in attending the shows. Prior to the official opening, over 1,000 communication professionals, journalists and bloggers from 300 different media have asked for their accreditation; 20% of them are international. And 423 are of Catalan or national media, 220 are bloggers or from digital media, 210 are digital influencers, 180 are graphic media and 48 are form international media from countries like United Kingdom, United States, France, Italy and Mexico, among others.
Regarding the commercial side of the event, besides the buyers invited directly from designers and brands, the organization has confirmed the attendance of around 100 buyers, who will visit the 080 Barcelona Fashion Showroom, taking place on June 27 and 28 within the 080: fifty of them are from Spain and aorund 30 from countries like the USA, Australia, UK, the Netherlands, Austria, Japan and Russia.
The attendees now keep enjoying the best fashion thanks to this afternoon shows: Oscarleon 4 p.m.), Miquel Suay (5.30 pm), Lebor Gabala (7 pm) and TCN (8.30 om), in which will be its comeback to the runway.
