The 24th edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion has already started, once more, under the claim of Undress your mind. The fashion event boosted by the Catalan Government, through the Trade, Craftsmanship and Fashion Consortium (CCAM), will fill the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site with fashion shows and activities around the sector from today and until Thursday, while on Friday the activity will move to the Port Marina Vela, the setting for the swimwear fashion shows. The Catalan Minister of Business and Knowledge, Àngels Chacón, has opened this morning this edition that, besides creativity and talent, also focuses on sustainability, circular economy and fash-tech.
In her opening speech, the Minister has pointed out that “fashion is talent, is creativity and also trends, and in this 080 edition, the two trends on which we focus are sustainability and technology, which will be present both in and outside the catwalk”.
Within the opening ceremony, Chacón has highlighted the importance of fashion in Catalonia, as a sector that represents 7.5% of the GDP and employs 65,000 people. “As a Department, we have to contribute to improve the competitiveness of the Catalan fashion sector, and establish synergies between the different elements of the chain value, promoting emerging talent and giving support to designers and brands boosting their internationalization” she has explained. Precisely, as the Catalan Minister has stated, “the 080 is one of the tools that the Catalan Government has to achieve these goals, which are integrated in the fashion acceleration plan on which we are currently working”.
The opening act has also counted with the presence of the general manager of Trade, Muntsa Vilalta; the  CCAM’s head of the Fashion Area and 080 project manager, Marta Coca, alongwith the designers and representatives of the sponsors of this 080 edition.
More than 800 journalists and communication’s professionals have asked for accreditation to follow the fashion shows and activities of this 24th edition, From 300 different media, 20% of them are international from countries like UK, USA; France, Italy and Mexico. Moreover, 180 are from Catalan or national media, 120 are bloggers or from digital media, 106 are digital influencers and 130 are photographers.
All of them will be able to enjoy the fashion shows of the 27 brands and designers who take part in this summer edition of the 080 catwalk, which will welcome three international guests: Nicholas K, Nous Étudions and Marrakshi Life. Besides them, these are the brands and creators that will present their new collections in this 24th edition: AGNÉS SUNYER; All Sisters; All That She Loves; Antonio Miro; Aubergin; BRAIN&BEAST; Como un pez en el Agua; Custo Barcelona; Escorpion Studio Barcelona; Eñaut;  Guillermina Baeza; Killing Weekend; Krizia Robustella; Laura Vecino; LEBOR GABALA; Maite by Lola Casademunt; Mans Concept Menswear; Menchén Tomàs; Narbon; NAULOVER; Oscarleon; Sonia Carrasco; TEOH & LEA; and Txell Miras.
Moreover, the programme also presents parallel activities that tackle the fashion sector from different perspectives. To highlight some activities we find, from an economic and commercial side, the 080 Fashion Showroom; the 080 Investor Day, from a fash-tech and entrepreneurship side; the Texmeeting by Texfor from a professional point of view and the round table “B-Searcular by EPSON” regarding sustainability, one of the main axes of this 24th edition.
As for the Open Area, it presents itself more technological and experiential than ever with innovative proposals that are sure to surprise the attendees. On the one side, we’ll find again the Pop Up Gallery, now set in the Northern Gardens of the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site presenting around 20 fashion and accessories’ pop-up stores along with live music, performances and other attractions.
On the other, the free access zone will also host the multimedia space 080 by Bexfy and the 080 Box Experience, which will generate interactions between the attendees.
In regard with the sponsors of this summer 2019 edition, the 080 Barcelona Fashion has the support of 8 sponsors and 10 collaborator brands. The sponsors are Etihad Airways (oficial airline), SEAT (oficial mobility), Redken amb Raffel Pagès (official hairdresser), NYX Professional Make Up (official makeup), Mistinguett (official cava), La Roca Vilage (shopping destination), Thuya (official manicure) and Rowenta (official ironing). As for the collaborator brands, these are the ones that take part in this edition: Seagram’s Gin (official gin), Lay’s Gourmet (snacks), Light & Free (yoghurt), B·SEArcular (Epson), Vitamin Well, Hotel SOFIA Barcelona, Font Vella, Crimons, Attrezzo and Port Marina Vela.
Besides their presence in the backstage, the Open Area and the Village, there are two actions boosted by the sponsors that stand out in this edition. First, the final of the emerging design contest organized by Mistinguett alongside designer Oscarleon (June 26th at 5pm) and, second, the presentation of the collaboration between Light & Free and Brain&Beast (June 27, 1:15 pm).
