Barcelona will be home to the David Bowie exhibition in spring 2017

30 Dec 2016 - 00:00

Androgynous, mysterious, daring and unique. These are some of the adjectives for David Bowie, the music and fashion icon who passed away on January 10th 2016, leaving an almost half a century legacy behind him since he first recorded an eponymous album in 1967 in Britain. From then on, Bowie was able to build a very personal career based on his charisma and strong personality, which he reflected on his music and his looks, which he kept changing throughout the decades until he turned into an icon of contemporary pop culture.
His unique presence and wide influence made him worthy of a retrospective by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, a successful exhibition visited by over a million people and that has travelled from Berlin to Paris and Chicago. Barcelona will be the last city of this intense journey as its Museu del Disseny will be home to it from May 25th in one of the most eagerly awaited exhibitions of the year we’re about to start.
Under the title “David Bowie Is”, this show is the ultimate retrospective of the multifaceted British artist, in which Bowie himself personally took part. Featuring over 300 works, amongst original costumes, handwritten lyrics, photos and fashion, the exhibition will bring us the figure of David Bowie closer to try to reveal his mystery, both enigmatic and inspiring, as the exhibition is expected to be.
