Catalan fashion targets the International market. The latest example among the 080 Barcelona Fashion designers is Edgar Carrascal, who will be once again present in the upcoming edition of the Catalan catwalk in June 2016 in the National Institute of Physical Education of Catalonia (INEFC). The Colombian designer based in Barcelona has announced a round of funding to reach up to half million euro with the aim to go international and have presence in strategic markets like the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This new stage for the brand originated at the past 080 Barcelona Fashion February edition, where Edgar Carrascal established new contacts with foreign buyers, interested in his menswear clothing line. As he explains: “apart from presenting the new collection on the runway, we also took part in the Barcelona Fashion Showroom, invited by the Modacc cluster. Our proposal was a success, especially among different commercial agents from Arab countries”. Thus, this is one of the key markets for their future growth along with some European capitals through selected point of sales as well as expanding the distribution in Barcelona. In a medium-term, the expansion would also reach Colombia, Edgar Carrascal’s home country.
In addition to this International expansion, Edgar Carrascal faces 2016 with other objectives. In 2015 the company had a turnover of 50,000 euros and for this year the goal is to keep growing and expanding the production until reaching 150 references per season. He envisions this growth while keeping the same high-quality production in workshops of Barcelona, working closely with local agents who produce his designs of fashion for men, with shirts as the main style.
