080 Trends: Flower-Power
Wardrobes experience a great change in spring. Colorful prints flourish and accessories acquire new tones to welcome the brightest season. In this context, flowers recreate a new fashion concept inspired by nature with new codes, which lose the rigidity of the previous season and give renewed air to the clothes and accessories. We analyze the use and strength of this pattern among spring-summer 2014 collections from designers and brands of 080 Barcelona Fashion.

Printed, embroidered, overlapping, camouflaged, figurative ... Flowers are trend, season after season. The difference lies in the presentation or the importance acquired in the outfits from each collection. To begin with this trend, BCN Brand promotes the city stamping mythical tiles, inspired by Puig i Cadafalch’s modernist flower, into the fabric of its pieces. Moreover, Escorpion commits to overlay with a variety of sizes and bright colours that reminiscent of the patterns of other cultures. Finally, TCN opts for the opposite, with inconspicuous flowers that add bohemian air to the collection.

The combination of floral prints is unlimited and there are no guidelines when discussing creativity in the runway. Yerse mixes flowers with psychedelic prints while Naulover goes further and combines flowers with colourful checkered jacquard. A cry of transgression that stands out from the classic essence of the textile brand. Furthermore, Desigual continues its colourful and casual line where flowers decorate the striped prints.

Custo Barcelona combines flowers with geometric prints with a psychedelic look, following the original brand essence. Moreover, Brain & Beast explores the most exotic aspect and presents this pattern in more camouflaged style with muted tones that do not detract prominence from the other pieces of clothing. Regarding to swimwear, Guillermina Baeza is also inspired by the flowers to print them in swimsuits and bikinis inspired by the bright land of Morocco.
