The IED Barcelona Escola Superior de Disseny celebrates its first decade of Thesis in Fashion 2004-2014. For this reason, the school has held a special fashion show, the ‘Designers of the World Fashion Show’, a unique event that has revised some of the best collections created by alumni during their last year, together with the presentation of the thesis of this course’s last-year students.

A total of 20 designers have exhibited their work under the heading ‘Designers of the World’. Their collections merge various artistic and cultural references from all over the planet through materials, designing patterns, volumes and fabrics. This way, outfits inspired by such varied sources as the Romanian folklore, digital impressions of arabesque patterns, revised Asian animations, the explorers and antique collectors have shared the catwalk. According to Alessandro Manetti, director of IED Barcelona, ‘the show consists of a series of very different looks that symbolise the interculturality and interconnection of the planet in this historical moment in which borders are blurring thanks to multiple communication and information technologies’.

The alumni that have taken part in this retrospective show are currently working for well-known companies like Valentino, Zac Posen, G-Star, Desigual or Andrés Sardà. Others lead their own brands and commercialise their products in different countries of the world.
