Until June 30th, 2014, 'Catalunya Europe' place in Brussels will host the exhibition "Catalonia is fashion, haute couture to prêt-a-porter', fostered by la Generalitat and the art historian Josep Casamartina, as the commissioner. The opening was attended by the delegate of the Government to the European Union, Pere Puig; CEO of Atenció Ciutadana i Difusió, Jaume Genovés and the manager of Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda de Catalunya, Miquel Rodríguez.

Through 28 suits and audiovisual material, the exhibition offers a look back at 50 years of recent history of prêt-à-porter fashion in Catalonia, an international benchmark. Those years when the design and the manufacture of serially clothing were implanted and consolidated. The phenomenon, in which couture houses joined as low cost garment companies, small workshops and artists and boutique did, gave a boost to the textile industry, very important at this juncture for the Catalan economy. The presentation includes the most important names in the history of haute couture and new brands are also incorporated, both emerging designers as established names, with the intention of expanding the rich range of creation in Catalonia during this period.

'Catalonia is fashion' gives a look at the top names that make up the sector from conserved clothes from the textile collection Antoni Montpalau, dedicated to collect, study and disseminate the world of fabric and clothing, a private initiative created in 2004 in Sabadell.
