The prestigious designer Isabel Toledo presented her creations in the frame of the 080 Barcelona Fashion together with his intimate and professional partner Rubén Toledo. They also gave a masterclass in collaboration with Charo Izquierdo, director of the magazine Grazzia Spain.

Masterclass TOLEDO & TOLEDO

The masterclass took place in the Metrònom, and consisted in a retrospective look over the works of the couple since they started and to the present time. Both the designer and her husband encouraged the public, which consisted mainly of students, to participate, thus achieving a relaxed atmosphere.

Isabel Toledo presented a new collection that is shown hidden within a selection from the Archives. True to her belief that fashion is both an ephemeral experience living inside a timeless and a graphic geography, the ebb and flow of style organically competes for attention, seasonally erupting in details and assuming new silhouettes. The total fashion equation is the sum of all parts, the accumulation of details called upon to assist in describing the new female psyche.

Isabel Toledo has been identified as a classical radical fashion designer because of the influences of geometry, simplicity and extreme attention to detail in the confection of her garments. Born in Cuba in 1960, she moved to New Jersey while she was very young and in high school there met her current husband and inseparable coworker, fellow Cuban Rubén Toledo. Multidisciplinary artist, Ruben is variously painter, sculptor, illustrator, writer and fashion critic. He works from sculpture, drawing, design, mannequins to store window design to and has created witty and incisive illustrations for media such as The New Yorker, Vogue, Paper, Visionaire and The New York Times.
