Isometric awarded the Catalonia’s National Fashion Award for emerging design 080 Barcelona Fashion

Debutants Jessica Montes Benito and Joan Ros Gallofré, with their menswear brand Isometric whose show was on Wednesday, have been awarded the new prize which nows has the category of Catalonia’s National Fashion Award for emerging design 080 Barcelona Fashion. A recognition which boosts theses newcomers’ career and their “Psique” collection based on modern-tailoring designs and relaxed silhouettes.

In a ceremony presided over by the Catalan Minister of Business and Labour, Felip Puig, there has been also time to remember and pay a little homage to the designer Sita Murt, who passed away recently. Afterwards, it’s been the turn to award the prize with personalities on stage like the Consortium of Trade Craft and Fashion of Catalonia (CCAM)’s manager and 080 director, Miquel Rodríguez; as well as the members of the jury: Stylists Ana Murillas and tandem Fermin&Gilles; Ilona Marx, director of German publication J’N’C’; Silvia Viudas, director of Design School Felicidad Duce and Tucho Balado, a reference of national’s ready-to-wear.

Also this morning, the Catalan Minister Felip Puig has been in charge of opening the third edition of the Barcelona Fashion Summit, a professional meeting with more than 300 entrepreneurs and directors in the fashion business to reflect, on this occasion , on the challenges which brings the digital era.

Regarding the runways, the morning has started with Oscarleon and his womenswear collection “Les enfants troubleurs” where psychological troubles have inspired a black and white proposal where synthetic fabrics like nylon work together with other natural ones like rabbit fur.

After him, it’s been the turn for another debut: Rita Row. This brand by two designers has presented “WOW – Widows of Woodland”, with a nostalgic feel due to its traditional wintery garments. Baby blue, mustard, gray and black have been the main hues in a warm and timeless collection where knit is the main character.

WHO has followed. The collection is entitled “Reworks” and shows the dichotomy between tradition and modernity through classic shapes in innovative materials.

Aldomartins has been the next on the catwalk with her collection “Winter passion”. A sporty proposal influenced by the vintage après-ski fashion but which introduces new volumes and layerings to present the sporty and rustic look in a new way.

After that, it’s been the turn for Punto Blanco’s “Connectivity” collection, an ode to the digital era. A versatile and contemporary collection where warm hues play with cold ones, and light with dark ones.

Another veteran brand, Torras, it’s been the next one. “Mimesis” is their proposal for men and women for next autumn-winter with bohemian designs for wild at heart individuals where the mix of fabrics and colors is the main feature.

Escorpion has closed the morning runway session with the women’s collection “Interludes”. An elegant and discreet line where the main character is the leather midi skirt, presented in a wide range of colors, as well as the two-piece look as opposed to the dress.

The afternoon ensured emotion with the award ceremony. Before, designer Natalie Capell has presented her collection “Tierra…” where she has continued true to her signature style of long and languid dresses in soft hues mixed with black.

Once finished the award ceremony, it’s been the turn for Justicia Ruano, the last of the designers of this 15th edition. The creator has shown “Ethno-Glam”, a urban and feminine proposal of classics silhouettes updated thanks to the innovative materials mixed with natural ones like silk, cotton and wool.

The ending to this 080 Barcelona Fashion’s 15th edition has been the MODAFAD runway with the designs of the last edition MODAFAD Awards’ winners: Pedro Covelo –the winner-, Martín Maldonado –the Jury’s special mention- and the Mexican Yoseline Martínez, guest of the organization. Emerging fashion to conclude a platform which awards the best young and independent talent of the Catalan scene.
