Miriam Ponsa wins “La Roca Village 080 Barcelona Fashion” contest

The designer Miriam Ponsa has been adjudged the winner of the La Roca Village-080 Barcelona Fashion prize for the Best Collection on the eleventh holding of the event, which closed at its Barcelona headquarters Thursday evening. The Minister for Employment and Business, Felip Puig, presented the award to the Catalan creator for her collection “Dreams of a journey”, which the 080 jury chose as the best at this event and comes with 20,000 euros in prize money. “It appears to us that Miram Ponsa's collection joins creativity and commerce. It's well elaborated and has a great result abroad”, claimed Luís Juste  de Nin, president of the jury.

The designer Marta Ortí meanwhile has been declared the winner of the 080 Design Contest, the prize awarded by the Government of Catalonia from amongst Design Schools for merchandising for a promotional item which will go on sale when the next 080 event takes place. His idea, “Origami”, a scarf made using origami paper-folding techniques, was also chosen by jury. Juste de Nin included three special mentions for the ideas submitted by the designers Míriam Ferré, Sílvia Sànchez and Mireia Playà.

The Minister Puig, accompanied by the director-general for Commerce, Josep-Maria Recasens, and the chief officer for the Commerce, Craft and Fashion Council, Miquel Rodríguez, and the business director at La Roca Village, Elena Foguet, presided over the act. The TV host Helena García Melero presented the show.

At the ceremony the designers Martinez Lierah – winners of the best collection on the previous occasion – participated. The duo of creators comprising Daniel Leirah and Arturo Martínez had presented their collection “Hearst” with their ideas for Fall-Winter 2013-2104.


Tribute to Andrés Sardà adorned by Àngel Corella's performance


11th edition 080 Barcelona Fashion- Andrés Sardà Catwalk



The last evening of the 080 has payed homenage to the Catalan designer Andrés Sardà, who has led the firm for 50 years and who created of a top brand in lingerie. In the event, which preceded the awards ceremony, eight models by the renowned designer were showcased. Amongst them, lace, jewels, feathers and black, indigo blue and pale pink mantillas. The show was rounded off by an amazing wedding dress, last proof of Andrés Sardà's talent. Finally, the dancer Àngel Corella payed to the public a magic moment, performing a show that closed the tribute to the well-known designer.
