‘Part XIV’ by Juan Pedro López. Autumn-Winter 2013-2014

Juan Pedro López displayed once more his sensitivity towards design with ‘Part XIV’, the autumn/winter 2013-14 collection presented in the last edition of the 080, which was showed to the public again last Thursday in Gratacós. The collection, inspired by Gabo’s and Pevsner’s sculptures, is based on volume and transparencies to “catch and wrap women in vaporous fabrics”, said the Barcelonian designer.

He plays with appearances and reflections through organza, which alluringly covers the dresses or other garments that are hidden under various textures and fabrics such as wool, rabbit skin, sequins or silk. “I aimed to create a game in which sheer fabrics let see the inner side of the looks but modify them at the same time”, he claims while describing a collection that is full of movement and delicate details. The colour palette is vivid and varied. Pale pink and khaki green stand out, as well as Prussian blue, which has stimulating touches of red and lime green.

A whole line of accessories decorates the looks of ‘Part XIV’. Dyed rabbit-skin bags with some patent-leather details and various necklaces and bracelets elaborated with chains, crystals and silk must be highlighted. In sum, this is the perfect combination for an enigmatic woman who likes seducing and being seduced.
