FASHION LEGEND ANDRÉ LEON TALLEY IS THE SPECIAL GUEST OF THE UPCOMING 080 BARCELONA FASHION

Former editor of Vogue USA, André Leon Talley, with more than 25 years of experience in the front line of international fashion, is the special guest of the 22nd edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion, that will take place from June 25th to the 29th at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site. It was announced by the manager of the Consortium of Trade, Crafts and Fashion (CCAM) and director of 080, Miquel Rodríguez, in the presentation of all the novelties of the upcoming edition that will kick off next Monday.
 

 

Rodríguez explained  that "Talley, currently at the world premiere of the documentary about his life" The Gospel According To André ", will present the film within the framework of the Catalan fashion show, where he will also be the recipient of the  Fashion Tribute of this edition.
 
An important new feature of this 22nd edition is the new 080 Barcelona Fashion Beach catwalk, a spin off of the official 080 catwalk specialized in swimwear. In the first day of shows, the brands Como un Pez en el Agua and Guillermina Baeza will present their SS19 collections on Barcelona beach; at the Vela Barcelona Patí Saling Club-Red Fish. According to Rodriguez, " swimwear has a specific weight of its own and that is why we wanted to give it a space of its own, which in the long run will make more space for itself at 080".
 
These brands are part of the 27 designers and brands that will take part in this edition, which have added another name. Miquel Rodríguez announced that "System Action will join the list walking the 080 catwalk with a collection by designers Zazo & Brull ".
 
Besides this new name, we also find other brands and designers that will make their debut on the catwalk, as usual. This summer the 080 Barcelona Fashion will welcome for the first time the emerging fashion brand Killing Weekend, the young designer Xevi Fernández with a collection for men and women and the brand Z1. In addition, there are important comebacks like Manuel Bolaño and TCN.

COLLECTION; ESCORPION STUDIO BARCELONA; ESTER FERRANDO KNITWEAR; GUILLERMINA BAEZA; KILLING WEEKEND; KRIZIA ROBUSTELLA; LEBOR GABALA; LOLA CASADEMUNT; MANS CONCEPT MENSWEAR; MANUEL BOLAÑO; MIQUEL SUAY; MIRIAM PONSA; NAULOVER; OSCARLEON; RED POINT; SWEET MATITOS; TCN; TXELL MIRAS; XEVI FERNÁNDEZ; i Z1.
 
Moreover, as a novelty of this 22nd edition, the organization wanted to give the fashion schools their own space on the catwalk and on the last day of the 080 (Friday, 29/06), they will be the protagonists with the parade of final year fashion dissertations by the young designers from the IED and LCI schools.
 
Once again at this edition, the organization will give three awards. The new talents will opt to the 080 National Award for Emerging Design by Desigual, endowed with 15,000 euros and sponsored by the Catalan fashion brand. The established designers will compete for 080 National Award for the Best Collection, while the best exporting fashion brands will be recognized with the MODACC Award for the best collection.

As usual, this summer the 080 Barcelona Fashion presents many activities beyond the fashion shows. Once again, the economic side of the event will be represented by different initiatives like the 080 Barcelona Fashion Showroom, a commercial trade on the 27 and 28 of June that will welcome international buyers and the stands of Catalan fashion brands, many of them also present on the catwalk. Miquel Rodríguez explained that "this time the bid is for the North American market, especially the United States, where in recent months the Government is carrying out several actions, the last this week in Florida." The difference in this edition is the aim to also attract national and local buyers; that’s why a 2019 trends presentation has been organized aimed at the multibrand shops operators.
 
The economic side also includes the 4th edition of the 080 Investor Day, which will take place on June 26th at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site. The 22nd edition of the catwlak will also host on Friday 29th a new edition of Texmeeting by TEXFOR 2018, a professional forum organized by the Confederation of Textile Industry (texfor) that, on this occasion, bears the title “Trends: progress in times of disruption”.
 
Closing the parallel activities, a new edition of the NEO2 Photoshoot Contest will be held, giving the chance to students of fashion design and photography to work with the collections of the designers present on the schedule and compete to write up the best report.
 
Regarding the general public, the event will introduce, as usual, the Open Area, the event’s free access area to which access by getting the invitation through this website. This zone will host the 080 village -with the stands of sponsors and collaborating firms -, the fashion schools' final projects displays, the 080 Fashion Market, food deli and drinks stands and leisure options to turn 080 Barcelona Fashion into a full on fashion festival.
 
A festival that wouldn’t be possible without the support of the sponsors and collaborating firms. This summer, the fashion show has six main sponsors and ten collaborating firms.
