In 2015 we had marsala, in 2016 rose quartz and serenity and in 2017 the Pantone Colour is greenery. This is what the international colour institution Pantone has announced recently from its New Jersey headquarters, having an impact all over the world. Revitalizing and rejuvenating, greenery is an optimistic green hue that has been chosen by Pantone given the tumultuous period we’re living in because, as they explain, it accounts for “new beginnings”. Inspired by nature, when the new sprouts spring, greenery makes us think of wide green landscapes that invite us to take a deep breathe and connect with the earth.
Pantone’s rulings have an influence on different aspects: from fashion to interior design and, of course, also the 080 Barcelona Fashion collections. If we take a look to the spring-summer 2017 edition, Celia Vela is the designer that stands out. The Catalan designer, who won the Best Collection Award in the February 2015 edition, has applied greenery to both men and women’s designs, showing the versatility of this bright and joyful colour. In Modafad, the emerging fashion runway show, Enric Martí also presented designs in this hue, like a women’s bomber which combined two trends in one piece. Red Point, Lola Casademunt and Menchén Tomàs are other names that included green in their collections while Antonio Miró introduced it in accessories like a bag, where greenery was mixed with blue and pink. It’s one of the endless possibilities of this green hue that is the king of the year that we’ve just kicked-off.
