Rose Quartz and Serenity, the Pantone colors of the year 2016 on the 080 Barcelona Fashion

11 Dec 2015 - 00:00

There are few days left to welcome 2016 and, as usual, the global color institution Pantone has announced the color of the upcoming year. If this 2015 the hue chosen was marsala, a brown with reddish touches, for 2016 we change absolutely to celebrate to soft and complementary tones: rose quartz and serenity (a sort of pastel blue with a violet undertone).
.
It’s striking the election of two colors instead of one, but it’s the blending of these two tones together that Pantone presents for 2016, seeking a sense of order and peace. Their election is reflected on different day to day life ambits: from design and decoration to fashion and the 080 Barcelona Fashion designers who last July presented different models in the Pantone 2016 colors. For instance, regarding rose quartz we find various proposals: Starting with Aldomartins who showed it in a fading effect to Bóboli, who adapted it to children’s clothing, as well as Celia Vela –winner of the Best Collection Award- who combined it with such colors as green and ecru. In addition, Justicia Ruano was one of the designers who most used it in her collection along Manuel Bolaño who even dyed the models’ hair in pink.

On the other hand, serenity was shown on the runway by Lupo Barcelona who opened the show with a spectacular leather bag with fringes in this soft blue. And this wasn’t the only design in the Pantone 2016 Color by the Catalan brand which used it both in accessories and its brand new clothing line. Lebor Gabala was another designer who used serenity in her characteristic knitwear while, in menswear, Miquel Suay introduced some designs in this hue, combined with white and grey, two neutral colors which give the same sense of peace and quietness as the Pantone Colors of the Year 2016.
